This is the story of a 16-year-old boy named Raj. He is a student of class 9 in Valley View School in Raigarh, a small industrial town in Chhattisgarh state. His father, Arjun Singh, is a PWD engineer, and Raj's mother is a kindergarten school teacher. When young Raj decides that playing cricket is more important than studying, tension builds within the family, especially between father and son. Mr. Kaustubh bravely explores the emotional upheavals of growing up, yet the young author manages to do so in a novel that really is lighthearted and captures the energetic, rebellious spirit of youth. THE LAST IDIOT is a fun read for all, but especially for preteen and teenage boys. |
