Samarendra Patra, aged 18 is a first year student of B.Tech-Mechanical Engineering in the prestigious SRM UNIVERSITY, Chennai. He was brought up in a small township of NALCO named Damanjodi means “Paharon ka Sangam-the unification of the hills”. He had his schooling from DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, Damanjodi. Reading and writing poetry has always been his passion. Basically, the ambition of the author is to become an entrepreneur .His sensitivity to his surroundings have thrived him as a poet. “A voracious reader, this youngster is a very sensitive human though he pursues a technical stream” says Sujata Pani, the English teacher of Samarendra Patra. He does not hold any degree of literature even then he has achieved enough in terms of knowledge, vocabulary and writing skills. Apart from writing, he tunes himself to the recent trends in the field of ASTRONOMY. He loves to be called as a dictionary by his comrades, as he often locks himself in grabbing the new words from it. He has also represented his school and his state in TABLE TENNIS. This is the beginning of Samarendra’s journey as an English poet. The author dreams of recognizing himself among the great contemporary poets like Louise Gullock, Russell Edison, etc. and has a firm determination to accomplish the dream one day. The author is working his second poetry book-“MY TRANSITION-A SILENT VOYAGE”.
