So many years ago in the hard days of struggle against apartheid , boycotting and marching against a system we despised from the bottom of our hearts, my only wish then was, to welcome one day a free, democratic South Africa. Six years after that wish came true, also my most secret dream came true, visiting the New Born Rainbow Nation. My first visit was like a pilgrimage, my second one was a homecoming and my third one the confirmation of an eternal love affair. I had the privilege to meet and work with groups of women who accepted me in their circle as a sister sharing the ups and downs of life, the laughter and the pain, the bruises and the healings. An even greater privilege was working and sharing my experience with young people, students and now even small children who call me with a big smile gogo , grandmother, which I happily accept as a title of honour.
About the Author
Through Frieda Groffy's new book, African Footprints On My Soul, we feel how in tune she has become with the lives of women in Africa, and with the land itself. We feel the sharing across cultures, of heart and soul; as well as Africa s call-back of affection for her blankes ouma (white granny). We see both the beauty and the contradictions of a troubled world, offered up to us in poems that are as free and sure as the sway of an African sister s hips. The poems in African Footprints On My Soul reveal a love story of commitment based upon mutual respect and trust - a sacred relationship. Frieda Groffy s poems initiate within the reader a renewal of mind and spirit; we are asked to join Africa s dance of change, and her quest for balance. We are reminded that the birthplace of humankind, Africa, remains larger than life - and just as deeply complicated. Thankfully, these poems create new rays of enlightened understanding through which we can more clearly see our Mother Land. - Suzanne Sunshower editor, Quiet Mountain Essays; author of Elements: 24 short poems based on Haiku

Description:
Frieda
Groffy’s dedication to the youth of
South Africa
is exemplary and inspirational. Her selfless
nature has made her undertake a one woman
Mission
to open the minds and strengthen the hearts of
young South Africans.
In
her dealings with the youth at the Artist Proof
Studio (APS), a community printmaking studio
situated in
Newtown
, the cultural district of Johannesburg, she has
given the youth a beautiful spirit to find love
within their lives and change their circumstances.
She
used the APS to transfer communications skills
that are usually left undeveloped in the visual
and Fine art fields. This process has resulted in
a number of young aspiring writers being included
in this wonderful book of poetry. Her
encouragement has also led to many writers to
pursue their dreams and further their studies in
literature and communications. Through her poetry
she has taught the youth that freedom is a voice
and a spirit that belongs to all and especially
those who aspire to be strong.
Her
laughter and presence have given the youth faith
and hope that all is not lost in this world. The
youth emerged from her workshops understanding the
importance of communication and how liberating the
experience is in understanding the many challenges
of life. She has encouraged them to write their
stories and poetry and share that with the world.
To
see Frieda Groffy, a staunch anti-Apartheid
Activist and a very good friend of
South Africa
go back to a democratic
South Africa
with an understanding that the youth are truly the
future of the country is indeed a moving
experience of selfless dedication.. We can all
learn the importance of giving back to society by
just watching Frieda live out her passion of
building the very fibre of the nation, namely the
youth.
The
people of
South Africa
truly appreciate the love that has been shown to
their children by this wonderful woman, a true
friend of
South Africa
, who has travelled so far to plant a seed in the
hearts of their children, a seed of love, hope and
freedom.

Description:
Frieda
Groffy, Universal Woman Synergy, values
differences by bringing the spirit of mutual
respect together. She is the center that pulls
together the perspective. She starts first with
herself, examining the landscape, then waters the
roots of our human spirit in the promise that one
day peace will flourish. One can understand fully
when Frieda sits and ponders on the events of day
with an open mind. The porthole splashes the light
that spins like a mirrored ball around and around
leaving nothing to darkness. This is Frieda, where
her heart takes her on the journey where Angels
fear to thread. She, a Warrior Woman, finds only
the goodness in humanity…courageous, filled with
tenacity to make sure the word is spoken, telling
stories about those who would otherwise be
forgotten…bringing to the world the true meaning
of life, with its challenges, its joy, its pain,
and its triumphs.
Frieda is a
proactive being, believing all things are
possible, and there is no ‘maybe’, no ‘I
hope’, no ‘I can’t’, she has the
initiative to make things happen because she
believes we can make a better world. The passion
rubs of on all who know her…Frieda is user
friendly and allows you to be yourself in spite of
yourself.
Her personal
mission is her constitution, the basis for making
major life decisions where every one feels
extraordinary, regardless of their station in
life. Among the very precious ways Frieda
manifests trust, is her integrity to be loyal to
all, present or absent. She never takes a short
cut in her consideration, that ultimately endorses
the humanity in all of us.
The
Universal Woman is more precious than jewels, for
jewels are bought and sold, a Universal Woman is
the salt of the earth, the core of life never
ending and can never ever be bought.
Dear Frieda,
thank you for the endless Bright Moments.
