Select Sands of Rhyme and Reason

Author: Floriana Hall Binding: Paperback (pp: 115) ISBN: 978-8182531550  Availability: In Stock (Ships within 1 to 2 days) Publisher: Cyberwit.net Pub. Date: 2009 Condition: New Description: Just as anyone’s life takes different turns at various stages, every author’s experience with writing or publishing is varied.  My story is unlike any other writers or poets. The fact that I started writing seriously at the age of 68 is unusual.  Even though I loved nursery rhymes as a toddler, wrote poems at the young age of seven, and wrote for the high school newspaper, I never imagined that I would become an author and poet in later years. My high school English and Literature teachers sparked my interest in creating scrapbooks of accomplished poets.  My favorite poet has always been Joyce Kilmer and my favorite poem has always been TREES. During the years that I was raising my five wonderful children, three girls and two boys, I wrote some poems and stories, but never thought seriously about publishing them.  After my 68th birthday, most of our nine grandchildren were grown, so I asked myself, “What could I do now to help ensure that the world might be a better place for my having walked here?” Two weeks later, I was inspired in church by what the pastor said to write my first published poem, LOVE NEVER DIES, which won the Editor’s Choice Award.  That gave me an incentive to keep on writing poetry, and I have since won many poetry prizes for an accumulation of over 600 poems published all over the world.

Gathering Graces

Author: Floriana Hall Binding: Paperback (pp: 179) ISBN: 978-81-8253-116-1 Availability: In Stock (Ships within 1 to 2 days) Publisher: Cyberwit.net Pub. Date: 2008 Front Cover Art © James Mcpartlin www.jamesmcpartlin.com Condition: New Description: I have always loved poetry. Even though I write both free verse and rhyme, I especially like rhyme. As a young child, I enjoyed repeating nursery rhymes- they were 'fun for the tongue.' In elementary school, I wrote short verses, but these were lost in the many moves our family made during The Great Depression. I have kept a scrapbook of high school (graduated June 1945, Cuyahoga Falls High School Distinguished Alumna) favorite poems with biographies of my favorite poets. My all-time favorite poem is TREES by Joyce Kilmer. GATHERING GRACES contains many winning poems, both free verse and rhyme. Since poetry lives on after a poet's death, I hope to touch other people's lives and to help them cope with the adversities of life.
